Warehouse Handyman

The Warehouse Handyman is responsible for the general maintenance, upkeep, and repair of a warehouse facility and its equipment. This includes performing preventive and emergency maintenance tasks to ensure that all systems are operational, safe, and compliant with regulations.

Hours 6am to 4pm
 
Key responsibilities
  • Facility maintenance: Perform routine inspections and conduct minor repairs on building infrastructure. This includes patching drywall, painting walls, repairing doors and flooring, and maintaining lighting fixtures.
  • Equipment and machinery upkeep: Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and conveyors. This involves inspecting, lubricating, cleaning, and replacing parts as needed.
  • Electrical and plumbing work: Perform basic repairs and installations on electrical and plumbing systems, including fixing leaky faucets, replacing outlets, and troubleshooting minor issues.
  • Safety and compliance: Inspect the facility for safety hazards and ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies and relevant regulations, such as OSHA.
  • Inventory management: Monitor and maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and parts. Alert management when restocking is needed.
  • Response to emergencies: Address and resolve emergency repair situations in a timely manner to minimize downtime and prevent further damage.
  • Groundskeeping: Assist with general upkeep of the warehouse exterior, which may include tasks like removing trash, sweeping walkways, and basic landscaping.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours. 
Required skills and qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance worker, or similar role in a warehouse or industrial setting.
  • Technical skills: Strong working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Tool proficiency: Ability to safely and efficiently operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot problems, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills for interacting with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Physical ability: Must be physically able to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in varying conditions.
