Cherry Picker / Order Picker Operators Night Shift

A cherry picker operator is responsible for safely operating powered lift equipment in a warehouse or construction environment to retrieve, stock, and move items or personnel to elevated heights. Key duties include fulfilling orders, managing inventory, loading/unloading trucks, using RF scanners, and maintaining safety protocols. A high school diploma, relevant experience, and familiarity with warehouse operations and safety are often required.
 
Common Responsibilities
  • Order Fulfillment:
    Using the cherry picker to pick and retrieve products from elevated shelves to fulfill customer orders. 
  • Inventory Management:
    Stocking shelves with incoming goods and performing cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy. 
  • Material Handling:
    Loading and unloading materials from delivery trucks and moving them around the warehouse or construction site. 
  • Equipment Operation:
    Safely and efficiently operating the cherry picker using joysticks and other controls to navigate and lift materials or workers. 
  • Safety Compliance:
    Following all safety regulations and protocols, including those from OSHA, and performing daily equipment checks. 
  • Documentation:
    Verifying bills of lading (BOLs), scanning products, and using warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory. 

Requirements
  • Education: Typically a high school diploma or GED. 
  • Experience: Proven experience operating a cherry picker or similar warehouse vehicle, such as a forklift. 
  • Skills:
    • Strong hand-eye coordination. 
    • Mechanical aptitude for operating equipment. 
    • Ability to perform physical labor and lift heavy objects. 
    • Attention to detail and accuracy for inventory tasks. 
    • Basic computer and RF scanner skills.
